I saw dead people!

Yes, that's right, I saw dead people...but, don't worry, they wanted to be seen! Over Labor Day weekend, Evan and I drove to Eau Claire to spend time with my family and Saturday morning, the whole group went to the Body Worlds exhibit at the Minnesota Science Museum. It was absolutely amazing! I can honestly say that I have never ever seen anything like that before! I thought at first I might be a little squeamish, because, as I'm sure the majority of you who know me, know that the inside of the body is not exactly what I'm used to working with. I like focusing more on what's on the outside...you know, housing, healthcare, foodstamps, child care, that sort of thing. This was incredible! I cannot say enough about how much this exhibit impacted me and my family! To see these once live humans so upclose and to see how every system worked...amazing! After seeing the exhibit, I did some research on the guy who created it. His name is Gunther VonHagens. Not too long ago, he was the original creator of the new form of preserving bodies, called Plastination. It has been taking him approximately one year or sometimes longer to preserve an entire body. All of the bodies in his exhibits are bodies of people who have chosen to donate their deceased bodies to his (and only his) program. Before these people die, they know their bodies will be observed by millions of people. Amazing! I know, I keep saying that, but it truly was...amazing! The exhibit at the Minnesota Science Museum is being held over till December 4th, 2006. If you ever have the chance, I would highly recommend this experience!
